About Property

Jaadooghar Regal Retreat, Stok is a majestic time capsule nestled amid the rugged beauty of Ladakh. Built in 1820 by skilled Ladakhi artisans, this palace-turned-retreat gracefully carries centuries of stories — of kings, monks, and mountain winds. Once the seat of the Namgyal Dynasty, whose lineage dates back to the 10th century, it opened its doors to travelers in 1980 with the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Today, guests wake up to the golden light over the Singey Sangpo (Indus) Valley, surrounded by timeless tranquillity and the soft hum of history.

Architecturally, Jaadooghar Regal Retreat is both fortress and fine art — with layered courtyards, carved balconies, secret corridors, and murals that bring the past alive. The temple-shrine (“Lhakchung”) crowns the retreat, where the resident monk’s morning and evening chants fill the air with peace and purpose. Every corner — from its grand doorways to sunlit verandas — feels alive with stories of devotion and royal grace.

Step inside, and you’ll find yourself in a living museum. Ancient thangkas, royal jewellery, age-worn artefacts, and ceremonial regalia share space with warm hospitality and heartfelt connection. You can watch the monk craft sacred amulets, join in quiet prayers, or simply sip tea while the mountains change colors before your eyes. At Jaadooghar Regal Retreat, you don’t just visit Ladakh — you live its soul, one serene sunrise at a time.
