Surrounded on all sides by the picturesque foothills of Dhauladhars, this Himachali farmstay is situated right next to a gorge, with soulful mountain views and flora.
The farmstay consists of 3 cottages, each one a combination of vernacular aesthetics and luxury to make your stay extremely comfortable.
Â
Start your day with the melodious chirping of birds while the first rays of the sun fall onto the stone walls and slate roofs of your private cottage. Immerse in local Kumaoni Cuisine, take a walk through the nearby village, and trek on offbeat mountain paths.Â
For those interested in some old school touring, the homestay is only 4 kilometers or roughly 15 minutes away from the landing site in Bir, the Tibetan market, and the delectable cafes situated in that area. Dip in the tranquility of rural life, get a taste of slow conscious living, or even work it out from the mountains.
JAADOOGHAR EXPERIENCES
Guided Treks
Trek on the untrodden path to the so-called Mountain of Eye and experience 360 degree views of the lush mountains of Bir, nothing short of the Swiss Alps, if you would believe it! This trek takes about 4-5 hours and is at an intermediate level.
You can also trek to the gorge visible from the backyard of the property. It is a beautiful slightly treacherous walk with treasure at the end. We can set up a picnic there for you and you can enjoy a meal with sunny views with local farm animals grazing away.
Another trek which may capture your interest is the trek to the Bir waterfall – a 3-4 hours trek, this leads you right into the lap of a quaint unexplored waterfall. Splash in the water in your privacy and have your fun.
All these treks are organised by your host on a paid basis along a guide for a hassle free experience.
THE COTTAGES
The cottages have carefully done interiors with a minimalist outlook built in with all modern facilities for a comfortable long stay. Each cottage is a city person’s dream come true sprawling over about 600 square metres. Apart from a working desk, window-facing leisurely couches or beds and loaded bookshelves, the guests will have access to a small kitchen with all basic utilities and ensuite washrooms. The guests will have complete privacy and if required the host is only a call away.

LOCATION KNOW-HOW
Located at a distance of approximately 4.7 kms from Ahju Railway Station and 68 kms from Kangra Airport, the property can be reached by getting a local taxi or bus from the station/airport. It can also be reached via road from Delhi, which is at a distance of 535 kms and makes for a good long weekend trip. It is only about 3-4 kms from the Bir bus stop. It is located at a distance of mere 4 kms from Bir Market and 3.2 kms from Deer Park Institute, which are few of the main attractions in Bir.
HOUSE RULES AND THINGS TO NOTE
Please bear in mind that the property is a homestay in a remote village of Himachal. While we aim to give you the best of experiences, sometimes things here can take a bit longer than they would in a city. The nearest market is roughly a kilometre away where you can find provision stores for buying groceries and daily need items if you wish to cook in the kitchen.
There is also an in-house restaurant at the property so meals can be purchased and paid for at the property itself or ordered in from the nearby restaurants. There’s also an option of ordering local homemade meals from the host’s family basis availability.
Jaadooghar Recommends: If you like cooking or do not wish to eat all meals outside, do stock up for your cooking before you get to the property. The kitchenettes are equipped with basic masalas, oil, pans, pots, cutlery etc. needed for cooking purposes.
We encourage you to promote local businesses and engage responsibly with the local community. Please do not litter the farmstay or the village. We request you to generate minimum plastic waste as the garbage disposal system for the village will not be able to cater to it.
Do note that as the cottages are located amidst a farm, you would have to walk about 100 metres through the trails to get to the property from the main road. Please make sure that you pack your luggage accordingly and are able to carry it, as your vehicle would be parked at the road itself.
